Participants of the workshop of the youth delegates of the European Commissioners for Nuclear Safety visited the Central Storage Facility

In the past few days, the participants of the summer workshop of the youth delegates of the European Commissioners for Nuclear Safety (ETSON Junior Staff Program), organized by the "Jožef Stefan" Institute, visited the Central Storage Facility in Brinje.

We presented the tasks of ARAO, with a special emphasis on institutional radioactive waste management. We are proud of the ongoing implementation of measures to reduce the volume occupied by radioactive waste in the facility, which includes processing and removal for recycling. As a result of these measures, the amount of stored radioactive waste is growing more slowly than it would otherwise, despite new admissions to storage. The removal of waste for recycling abroad also contributes to lower annual increases.

During the tour, we exchanged opinions and answered visitors' questions, which contributed to a better understanding of our efforts for safe and efficient management of radioactive waste.
