International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) training in Ljubljana hosted by ARAO
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in cooperation with ARAO, conducted the first part of an international training in Ljubljana, attended by experts from more than 30 countries. The purpose of this event was to train participants in the use of methodologies developed for preparing a risk assessment for the storage of sealed and disused sealed radioactive sources and for producing a safety report.
5-day intensive training Interregional Basic Training Course on the Development of Safety Assessment/Safety Case and Security Plan for the Storage of Sealed and Disused Sealed Radioactive Sources included the preparation of a risk assessment, preparation of a safety report and a security plan for the storage of sealed and disused radioactive sources.
The operator of a radiation facility bears the primary responsibility for its safe operation. He must carry out a risk assessment to demonstrate that the design and operation of the facility comply with current safety requirements. In addition, the facility operator must establish an effective security system to ensure that the stored material is adequately protected against unauthorized access, theft or other intrusions.
Interregional Advanced Training Course on the Development of Safety Assessment/Safety Case and Security Plan for the Storage of Sealed and Disused Sealed Radioactive Sources will be held in Ljubljana from May 12 till May 16.
