Our work is guided by safety, environmental and public acceptability. Safety and safety culture are intertwined in all segments of our operation. Before entering the facility, please ensure that you have read and understood all safety instructions and regulations.
• Central Storage Facility (CSF) is located in the security-controlled area of the “Jožef Stefan” Institute, Reactor Center (address:
Brinje 40, Dol pri Ljubljani, coordinates: 46.0931074, 14.5944387,
https://goo.gl/maps/ZXVctXPVK99q14TD8).
• Access to the security-controlled area is only granted through the entrance gate.
• Visitors and personnel are required to present identification upon entry.
• It is strictly prohibited to bring items such as weapons, explosives, or similar objects into the secured area and the storage facility, as they may endanger the safety of individuals, equipment, and public order.
• Movement is limited to the immediate vicinity of the storage facility and access roads.
• Follow all instructions and guidelines provided by our staff.
• The consumption of alcohol and narcotics is prohibited.
• In the event of an emergency, promptly follow evacuation procedures and exit the facility.
• If you observe any unsafe conditions or practices, please report them immediately to our staff.
• The entire facility is continuously monitored by a video surveillance system, both within the security-controlled area and throughout the facility.
• The parking area is located above the CSF. If your job requires it, you can briefly stop a vehicle in front of the CSF, provided that emergency routes remain clear.
Safety Instructions for Radiation Protection
Workers entering the storage facility should follow the following entry/exit protocol:
• Before entering the facility, our staff will brief you on the facility, radiation conditions within the storage area, safety measures, the entry and exit procedures, movement within the facility, and any restrictions.
• Prior to entering the area where radioactive waste is stored, individuals must put on protective overalls and gloves at the entry point and remove them upon exit and place them in the designated area.
• Touching the surfaces of radioactive waste packages is prohibited.
• Upon leaving the area where radioactive waste is stored, individuals must undergo palm and shoe sole contamination measurements using the contamination monitor. In case of contamination, they should follow our staff’s instructions.
Safety is the responsibility of everyone, and compliance with these safety instructions can prevent accidents and ensure safety.
